Choosing a Luminaire for a TEDAŞ-Spec Project: 6 Points to Watch
What the TEDAŞ approval scope covers, matching technical specifications, and what needs to be in the tender file for projects requiring a TEDAŞ-approved luminaire. The difference between an approved model and a project-specific model.
Most general-lighting tenders from electricity distribution companies and municipalities include a requirement for a TEDAŞ-approved luminaire. This requirement isn't just a paperwork item — reading exactly what the approval covers prevents problems at delivery and acceptance from the start.
1) Check which model the approval covers
Approvals are granted for specific models and power ratings. A different-power model in the same series isn't automatically considered approved. At Asso, for example, the TEDAŞ approval covers the IQONIC series' 77W model; the 100–350 W IQONIC models are a separate product and are not within the approval scope.
2) Match the technical values in the specification item by item
Values such as luminous flux, efficacy, colour temperature, IP and IK protection class, power factor and operating voltage must be compared against the specification's clauses one by one. A compliance table in the quote that shows this matching speeds up evaluation.
3) Know how project-specific changes affect the approval
Changing the approved model's power, efficacy or optics can take the product outside the approval scope. That's why, on Asso's product page, the power and efficacy of the TEDAŞ-approved model are fixed; options such as colour, optics and dimming can be set.
4) Ask for driver and surge-protection details
The driver largely determines the luminaire's lifespan. The driver brand, its certificates and the surge-protection option (e.g. 10kV) should be clearly stated in the tender file.
5) Datasheet and certification set
An up-to-date datasheet containing technical values, dimensions, photometric curves and certification logos should be sent with the quote. You can download, directly from Asso's product pages, a corporate datasheet built for the options you select.
6) Delivery schedule and warranty
In public projects, delivery dates are tied to the contract. A manufacturer that plans its own production can firm up the schedule around your project. The warranty period and scope should also be written into the quote.
For your TEDAŞ-spec project, send us the specification and quantities — we'll prepare a compliance table, datasheet and factory-direct price together.
